1989 – 2018

Joshua Andrew McBroom, age 29, of Silsbee, TX, passed away on December 26, 2018. He was born to Vernon Frank McBroom and Kallai Williams Middleton on July 12, 1989 in The Woodlands, TX.

A unique, loving man, Josh was very outgoing with an innocent faith and attitude towards others. A greeting from Josh often involved a big hug; everyone was family to him, and he never met a stranger. His friendly, personable nature was inherited from his “NaNa”, Ramona Williams; they lived together for years, sharing many meaningful conversations and special memories. Josh loved to engage others in deep conversations, but if he disagreed with you or knew better about a topic, he would tell you. From an early age, he was proud of his Christian faith; he shared that faith often, no matter where he was or with whom he was talking. If Josh promised something, he would do it, and he expected the same from others. Even if somehow you had done him wrong, he was always a loyal and true friend. At First Baptist Church of Silsbee, his church, he would walk the aisles making sure to greet everyone, taking time to make the visitors feel welcome. He had a passion for children and easily related to them; he was known as “Uncle Stitch” to many, especially with his volunteer work at his church academy. “Stitch” was his favorite character and one of his fondest memories was having breakfast with Stitch during a trip to Disney. Josh was proficient in his knowledge of many things, often researching topics to increase his knowledge; many would be surprised with his knowledge, from sports stats to gaming. An avid reader, expert gamer and Dr. Pepper lover, Josh’s caring and one-of-a-kind nature will be missed by all those he loved, hugged and faithfully befriended during his life.

Left to honor his memory are his mother, Kallai Middleton; father, Frank McBroom and wife, Yvonne, of Silsbee, TX; brothers, Philip McBroom and wife, Jessica, of Silsbee, TX and David Middleton Jr. of Evadale, TX; sisters, LoriElle Schexnider and husband, Brandon, of Vidor, TX, Erica Marks of Sulphur, LA, Kelly Marks of Silsbee, TX, Crystal Kirkindall and husband, Dillon, of Silsbee, TX and Meagan Jordan and husband, Corey, of Silsbee, TX; aunt, Sheila Allen and husband, Richard, of Silsbee, TX; grandparents, Ramona Williams, Jenny Smith, Pat Pipps and Robert McBroom; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; and his church family at Silsbee First Baptist.

Preceding Josh in death were his “Bonus” father, David Middleton Sr. and grandparents, Thomas Williams, Jeannie McBroom and Randy Middleton.

Visitation with family and friends will be 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., Saturday, December 29, 2018, at First Baptist Church of Silsbee, 350 U.S. 96 Business, Silsbee, TX. Josh’s life honoring service will follow at 3:00 p.m., also at the church, with burial at R.S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery in Silsbee, TX.
