Johnny Ray Martin, 49, of Lumberton, passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2021. Born on Tuesday, October 24, 1972, in Orange, TX to Sherrell (Martin) Holt, Johnny and his twin brother Claude were one of six children in their family. Growing up in Houston, Johnny was the life of the party and as he’d say, “you were lucky to be attending it”. Graduating from Nimitz High School in Houston, Johnny would go on to pursue a degree in psychology at Lamar University in his later years and was constantly striving for that goal. Johnny was blessed to find a love that would sustain him and carry him through the years in Cynthia Ann McConathy and loved her until the day she passed. Johnny loved family, it was always something he came back to again and again over his life; and he certainly loved his girls: Emily, and Jasmine. His love of his children was unwavering and steady, even when times were tough- his girls always knew he loved them. When he eventually became a Poppy, Johnny was even more dedicated to building relationships with his family and spending time with his family and loved ones. Family and friends were everything to Johnny. He loved to cook for his family and spend time with those he loved. While sometimes stubborn, he was a persistent and loving man that truly took pride in everything he did in life from his work to his family. Johnny will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Left to cherish his memories are his daughters, Emily Rene Jenkins and husband Mitchell, and Jasmine Rae Martin; his grandchildren, Jayce Logan Behrens, Makayla Jenkins, and Braeden Jenkins; his siblings, Scott Bradburry, Steve Martin, James Bradburry, and Christina Holt; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, co-workers, and friend through the years.
Johnny is preceded in death by his mother, Sherrill (Martin) Holt; his stepfather, William “Willie” Holt; and his twin brother, Claude Martin.
To honor Johnny’s life the family will hold a private service at a later time.
