Joe Kermit Short Jr., age 84, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025. Joe was born to Joe Kermit Short Sr. and Gladys Stanley on November 20, 1940, in Beaumont, TX.
Joe lived a life dedicated to service, hard work, and kindness, a true Patriot, he proudly served his country in the military for seven years. After his military service, Joe pursued a career as a boilermaker, a profession he excelled in for 30 years. Joe was a man of immense generosity, always willing to give to others whether he had it or not. He loved to fish, watch Fox News, and cherished spending time with his friends, especially enjoying meals together. Joe life was a testament to the values of hard work, dedication, and unwavering kindness. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Joe is survived by his cousins, Susie Stanley Clark and husband, Wade, Suzanne Largent and husband, Bill; dear friend and caregiver, Joy Phillips; and lifelong friend, Shirley Horton.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Glenn Short and sister, Shirley Coughlin.
