Jessie Allen “Stony” Brumley Jr., 63, of Port Neches, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2021. Stony, as he was known by everyone, was born in Houston on March 8, 1958, to Jessie Allen Brumley Sr. and Robbie Nell Quinn Brumley.
Moving around a bit in his youth, Stony grew up in Many, LA, Marthaville, LA and Henderson, TX with his five siblings. As a young boy Stony loved to be outdoors, especially with his horse “Sam” and loved to play deep in the woods with his cousins and friends. It was in these early years that Stony met Monte Davis who was his best friend throughout his entire life. One of the best days in Stony’s life was the day he met Letricia Lynn Honeycutt at church. Stony and Lynn were married October 15, 1976, in Beaumont, TX and he was blessed with the best mate and helpmeet for his journey through this life. Stony and Lynn had 3 children- Michelle, Jeremy, and Benjamin who meant everything to them. Family was always the center of Stony’s world. He loved to laugh and tease people, enjoying any time spent with his children and grandchildren. A faithful member of Grace and Truth Gospel Tabernacle in Beaumont, TX, God was always first to Stony and he was a devout believer of Brother William Branham and Brother Lee Vayle’s Ministries and loved his pastor, Jack Bell. Nothing was more important to Stony than his family and his relationship with his Lord. A hard worker, Stony was an ironworker and enjoyed working alongside his father, brother, many other family members, and his best friend Lynn Johnson over the years; they always had fun times together. Stony was blessed beyond measure throughout his life, family vacations to Bronson and loved getting to be around family for the holidays- especially if those family holidays included his mama’s famous dressing. Stony had an all or nothing approach to life, and he will be remembered for his generosity and concern for others always with a wonderful sense of humor that belied his inner strength. Stony’s legacy of love and faithfulness will continue to set the example for those who knew him.
Stony is survived by the love of his life, Letricia Lynn Brumley; his children: Michelle Friend and husband Ronnie, and Benjamin Brumley and wife Amber; his siblings: Karen Stephens, Terri Johnson, Julie Harris, Marrian Brumley, and Rachel Svoboda; his grandchildren: Zachary Wiggins, Zoe Wiggins, Kayla Brumley, and Levi Brumley; his church family, and many extended family and friends over the years.
Stony is preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Allen Brumley, Sr. and Robbie Nell Quinn Brumley; and his son Jeremy Brumley.
Stony was laid to rest at Old Hardin Cemetery.
