Jerry Wayne Godeaux

Jerry Wayne Godeaux, age 80, of Vidor, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2026. He was born on April 12, 1946, to Wilford “Bill” Godeaux and Ailene Hankins, in Harrison, Arkansas.

A devoted follower of Jesus and a man whose kindness left an imprint on everyone he met, he entered his Heavenly home with joy after a life lived with purpose and love. Jerry never met a stranger; his gentle spirit and peacemaker’s heart made him beloved by all. He carried his Bible everywhere he went, always ready to share a word about the Lord and simply testify to God’s goodness. A hardworking and gifted carpenter, he instilled a strong work ethic in his children. His humor was a gift and Jerry loved telling jokes. He spent his life deeply in love with his wife, Gwen. The two met while both were in elementary school and walked through life side by side, hand in hand, until her passing. He enjoyed westerns, Christian music, and the simple joys of a life lived close to God. Jerry leaves behind a legacy that will continue to shine through the lives of all who knew him.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Ronnie Godeaux and Jeff Godeaux and wife, Kim; daughters, Mitsy Godeaux, Becky Broyles and husband, Austin, and Krissy Godeaux Howard and husband, Andy; brothers, Bobby Godeaux and wife, Connie and JR Godeaux and wife, Mary; grandchildren; Brittany Tolman, Jerrica Tolman Richard and husband, Michael, Josh Broyles and wife, Cass, Hannah Matthews and husband, Jacob, Hailee Frazier and husband, Tye, Jordan McWilliams and wife, Marissa, Remington Godeaux, and Garrett Howard; great-grandchildren, Carlos, Hadleigh, Kynzleigh, Anson, Millie, Charlie, Zion, Selah, Nash, Reese, and Rawling; son-in-law, Greg Hutchinson; and a host of extended family, friends, and loved ones.

Preceding Jerry in death are his parents; beloved wife, Gwendolyn Louise Godeaux; daughter, Suzanne Hutchinson; brother, Tommy Godeaux; and sister, Diane Godeaux.

Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, June 23, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Friendship Bible Baptist Church, 3680 S Main St. Vidor, TX 77662. Jerry’s life honoring funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Friendship Bible Baptist Church, 3680 S Main St. Vidor, TX 77662, with interment to follow at Del Rose Cemetery in Vidor.
