Jennifer Lynn Riley, age 51, passed from this life on Monday, October 03, 2022. She was born in Van Nuys, CA on December 7, 1970, to Gary Nelson and Christine Landis.
Within her, there was beauty; it was radiant, exuding a heartfelt, loving care that could not be quenched. Encased by the graceful barrier of her soft smile, a look into the kindness of her eyes gave a glimpse of the virtue of her soul. In Jennifer, there was a friend to be found, a servant that would never stop serving no matter the cost or requirement, and a love that was unconditional and sublime. Her presence drew others to her, when she entered rooms, the atmosphere was set and there was surely a friend to be made before she left. There is a way that most people work, and there was Jennifer’s way of working, because she knew how to give only her best, possessing an exceptional work ethic. Blessed with two daughters, she set an example as a mother, pouring herself into her girls. She was deeply in love with her husband, Travis, and she was his world. There was the right way, as some would see it, and there was the Jennifer Way, she redefined normalcy as only a uniquely special person can. Gardening was one of her passions, and as a side benefit, pulling weeds was her therapy. There were many fond memories made on the trips she took with her loved ones, from Peru to Europe to destinations across North America, enjoying an especially wonderful trip to Yellowstone. “I hate that for you”, she would say to others upon hearing of a need, hoping deep down that she could but bear some of the pain or sorrow; Jennifer truly cared. She faced trials and hardships of her own with the dignity and grace of a true lady, one whose like is rarely encountered in this walk down below. Though she has left this Earth, her radiance will shine on in the hearts of all that experienced the love of Jennifer Riley, and her memory will forever be cherished.
Left to honor her memory is husband of 16 years, Travis Crews Riley of Lumberton; daughters, Jessica Lynn Burke and Lyndsie Christine Burke, both of Lumberton, TX; mother, Christine Marie Auchterlonie and husband Tim of Lumberton; father, Gary Allen Nelson and wife, Debbie, of Maryville, TN; brothers, Shawn Colfer and wife, Rebecca, of Buda, TX and David Auchterlonie of Henderson, NV; adopted children, Abby Riley and Syrus Riley, her beloved Boxers; and a host of dear friends, extended family, and loved ones.
Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday, October 8, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., at Lumberton Family Funeral Home, 766 S. Main St., Lumberton, TX 77657.
