Jayde Leanne Melancon Moody, age 33, of Lumberton, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026. She was born on July 26, 1992, in Port Arthur, TX.
One of those rare souls whose beauty lived not only in her smile, but in the depths beneath the dusty film that life sometimes lays over us. Beneath it, she was a brilliant, intricate, extraordinary thing. Those who truly knew her saw her spirit; the talent, the intelligence, and the warmth. Jayde believed in Jesus, and she carried that faith always. Whatever she set her mind to, she accomplished. She worked hard to earn her degree and credentials as a dental hygienist. She was a self‑taught musician, teaching herself guitar and piano. She loved needlepoint and was skilled. And she loved eating out, especially ramen and sushi shared at her favorite Japanese restaurants. Jayde met the love of her life, Lance, in a subtle way: as roommates who quickly became inseparable. What began as shared space grew into a shared life. To him, she was “Jayderade.” To her, he was “LancePantz.” Together, they built a life and a love. Their greatest blessing came with the birth of their daughter, Ava Lynn. In Ava, her light continues. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, creativity, and determination. Though her journey here was short, her soul rests in the peace of many hearts.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Lance Moody; daughter, Ava Lynn Moody; mother, Terri Castle; sisters, Lacie and Angie; mother-in-law, Sheri Everett; and a host of extended family, friends, and loved ones.
Preceding Jayde in death is her father, Zayne Keith Melancon.
Jayde's life honoring memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m., at Lumberton Family Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest following the service at Old Hardin Cemetery.
