Jason Kotlarz
1976 – 2020
Jason Allen Kotlarz, age 43, of Lumberton, TX, passed away on June 30, 2020. He was born in Galveston, TX on October 9, 1976 and raised by his loving parents, Thomas “Ray” and Debbie Lowe Martin.
His passion for friendship, his kindhearted, loving nature, and his devotion to his family was unmatched and unrivaled. Jason opened his heart to anyone that he met in life, and his innate, affable warmth led him to help any in need and rarely meet a stranger. He was straightforward and honest. Even if a person started out not liking him, they eventually came around; once Jason made a friend, they were friends for life. If his personality failed to draw someone in, his exceptional cooking finished the job. Some allege that he made the best crawfish ever boiled, and his crawfish cooking team, “The Three Brothers”, comprised of his brother Jeremy, cousin Brian Ozment, and himself, diligently satisfied the palates of many crawfish lovers. Jason was fun to be around, and when you heard his dramatic and engaging, “Whaaaattt?!?”, it was his priceless way to acknowledge stories, situations, or his children’s accomplishments. One day at the beach, the smell of his cooking crab and possibly shirt lessness, attracted the gaze of the love of his life, Kallie. Their love story flourished from that day, leading to their marriage on November 28, 2009. She forever became affectionately his “Pretty”, and to her, he was “My Love”. Jason loved his kids, and when he and Kallie were blessed with their daughter, Ava, he fell in love again. Ava was his carbon copy, a daddy’s girl in every way: sharing the same interests in hunting, spending countless hours together, and often enjoying “Sun Tea”, their special tea they’d set in a sunlit window to brew. Jason was stubborn, but about the things that mattered, and he ardently defended and fought for the things and people that he loved. Few people find true friendship in this life, and to many, Jason was the embodiment of that intimate, faithful friend. He was a twin and natural brother to Jeremy, and sincere brother to so many others; defender and supporter of his sister, Gina; a Momma’s boy to the mother he adored, father to the prides of his life, his children; a cooking legend with matchless talent; and a husband that loved Kallie, his “Pretty”, with all of his heart. The memory and character of Jason’s spirit will live on forever in the hearts of his loved ones.
Left to honor his memory is his loving wife of 10 years, Kallie Nicole Kotlarz; mother, Debbie Lowe Martin; sons, Trenton Kotlarz and Kadon Kotlarz; daughter, Ava Rhae Kotlarz; brother, Jeremy Kotlarz; sister, Gina Lowe; mother-in-law, Tammy Cunningham and husband, Darrell; father-in-law, Dale James and wife, Ellen; and a host of beloved friends, extended family and loved ones.
Preceding Jason is his father, Thomas “Ray” Martin; son, Tanner Kotlarz; and daughter, Kinsley Leighan Kotlarz.
Visitation with family and friends will be on Thursday, July 9, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m at Lumberton Family Funeral Home, 766 S. Main St., Lumberton, TX.
