Janice Tribes Obituary

Mrs. Janice Ema Lea (Setters) Tribes, 80, of Beaumont, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 21, 2021. Janice was born March 11, 1941, to Charles Roscoe Setters and Elda Mae Clow-Setters in Beaumont, TX. Janice grew up part of a large family and family was always a focus in her life. She graduated from South Park High school in 1959 and was active in the choir at school. Shortly after graduation Janice married her high school sweetheart Phillip Lester Trahan Sr. on June 6, 1959, at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica. Phillip and Janice had two children together and faithfully began raising their family in Janice’s life-long church home of St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica. Janice was widowed in 1966, and quickly stepped into her new role of being a single mother and sole provider for her family. Lucky enough to find a love and partner in life again, Janice married Huey Paul Tribes on December 29, 1967, at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica and they went on to have a daughter together. Nothing in was more central to who Janice was then being a mother and grandmother- her children and grandchildren always came first. A devout Catholic, Janice was a member of St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica for most of her adult life until her declining health kept her home. Hard working and always juggling both outside careers and being a mother, Janice retired from Target after 25 years of service and deeply loved her work family. Holidays where a special time for Janice, she loved and looked forward to the occasions when her family would gather; family vacations where also a wonderful bright spot for Janice as she could spend even more time with those she loved so much. The bright smile and happy countenance that often-graced Janice’s face will not soon be forgotten and those she loved will dearly miss her.

Janice is survived by her children: Phillip Lester Trahan Jr. of Beaumont, Belinda Trahan Teague and husband Clark Ed Sr. of Pampa, Laurie Lea Tribes-Morales and husband Joe Louis of Beaumont; her siblings: Dale Setters and wife Rexene of Bronson, Roy James Setters of Colmesneil, Sue Reagan of Colmesneil, and Linda Sanchez and husband Joe of Silsbee; her grandchildren: Candace Diane Gentry-Blea of Pampa, Clark Ed Teague Jr. and wife Torrie of Groves, Quincy Ira Teague and wife Rachelle of Bridge City, Taylor Ema-Lea Trahan-Powell and husband Zach of China, Jessica Renee Wood of China, and Jesse James Morales of Burlington, WA; her great-grandchildren: Amber Blea, Noah Blea, Masen Blea, Larissa Patton, Wendy Kay Teague, Desireigh Teague, and Kyle James Morales; her great-great-grandchildren: Luke Anthony Hernandez and Aiden Patton; and many friends, co-workers, and extended family members throughout the years.

Janice is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Elda Setters; her two beloved husbands, Phillip Lester Trahan Sr. and Huey Paul Tribes; her siblings: Eldon Roscoe Setters, Valarie Arlene Stelly, and Nancy Mae Setters; and her two great-grand daughters, Isabella Grace Blea and Lillia Renee Celestine.

Serving as pallbearers will be Zach Powell, Dean Thompson, Jeremy Thompson. Clark Ed Teague Jr., Dominic Alfaro, and Lonnie Fontenot. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Setters and Aaron Pope.
