Janice Shakelford Bonura

Janice Olene Shakelford Bonura, 63, of Beaumont passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2021. Janice was born on February 4, 1958 in Beaumont, Texas to Lee Levon Shakelford and Willie Faye Hinson Carr.

Janice grew up in Beaumont where her caring nature led her to be a good friend to many and a mother to everyone she knew. Janice loved to take care of people- her children, her friends, and anyone who needed help; it was not uncommon to have her load up a box of leftovers and food to send with the whomever was around. Janice had three children and truly loved each of them- always loyal to them no matter what, but everyone who knew Janice knew that her grandson had completely stolen her heart! Family was definitely a central focus of Janice’s life, and she loved her family time about all things; a Corona with lemon, and a crawfish boil where she could show off those excellent peeling talents was always a good time in her book! Travel was something Janice was always ready for and greatly enjoyed; she also liked to bake and even made a side business of sorts selling delicious homemade treats whenever she found time to whip them up. A sassy and steadfast woman, Janice loved Jesus and stood by God through out her many roads in life. Janice’s kind soul and warm words of encouragement for those around her will be deeply missed by all who knew her and she will not soon be forgotten.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Jessica Donna Lanham, Jeremy Levon Bonura and wife Shannon, and Jason Andrew Bonura; her grandson, Colin Bonura; her siblings: Vonda Earnhart, Walter Shakelford, Glenda Beggs, Gloria Serifino and sister-in-law Lynn Lara; her in-laws Joe and Deanna Soileau; and numerous friends over the years.

Janice is preceded in death by her parents, Lee Levon Shakelford and Willie Faye Hinson Carr; as well as William Achel Carr and husband Donald Wayne Bonura.

To honor Janice’s life, a time of Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Lumberton Family Funeral Home (766 S. Main St., Lumberton, TX 77657) from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Life honoring Funeral Services will being at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Lumberton Family Funeral Home (766 S. Main St., Lumberton, TX 77657). Janice will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont, TX at 1:30 PM on July 20, 2021.
