James “Bucky” Dewayne Carter Jr., 24, of Lumberton, passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021. Bucky was born on December 11, 1996, in Beaumont to James Dewayne Carter Sr. and Cheryl Gipson McCollum.
Bucky was a tenderhearted young man who deeply loved people. Bucky spent his short time here with us making others smile and enjoying life. He loved to fish and hunt and was working towards becoming a police officer. Funny and memorable, Bucky was well known and someone who brought joy to those around him. Luckier than most, Bucky grew up with his beloved great-grandmother and great-grandfather who taught him so well the value of family and being kind to others. While his life was shorter than anyone could have expected, his legacy of love will continue on in the hearts and minds of all those that loved and knew him.
Left to cherish his memory is his great-grandfather, Robert Netterville Sr.; his grandfather, Robert Blackburn; his father, James Dewayne Carter Sr.; his mother, Cheryl Gipson McCollum and husband Tim; his siblings: Cassie Wise and husband David Sr., and Danlan Whitmire; his nieces and nephews: Shelby Sharp, Bailee Wise, David Wise Jr., and Zebb Wise; as well as many extended family members and friends.
Bucky is preceded in death by his beloved great-grandmother Billy Jean Netterville, whom he is at peace with in Heaven now.
To honor Bucky's life, his cremated remains will be laid to rest at Restlawn Memorial Cemetery with a graveside service on Friday, November 5, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.
