James W. Price

1942 - 2019

James William Price, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2019. He was born on March 19, 1942 in San Augustine, TX to Lud Davis Price and Bertha Roberts Price.

Unique and cunning, James paved his own path in life. He was an accomplished trader in many facets; including homes, cars, and horses. Cooking was a hobby that James enjoyed, always making sure to add a little extra fat for flavor. He met the love of his life, Anna, at 19 years old on a double date with friends, and their love story would last for the next 58 years until her passing. James found peace on many trail rides and loved attending rodeos, he also enjoyed taking care of horses, especially Sam, a long-time family horse that was also a former racehorse. Some of his most cherished memories were made helping his boys, working on trucks and “piddling”. He owned and operated a tree business, teaching all his boys and many of their friends the trade; his oldest son runs a tree business to this day. His sense of humor entertained many, even when he was “messing” with them. He was kindhearted and loved his family greatly, his laughter will be missed, but his life will be remembered by those who loved him.

Left to honor his memory are his loving daughters, Sheila Dunn and husband, Greg, of Beaumont, TX, Loretta Peavy and husband, Devin, of Claremore, OK, Kimberly Challie of Silsbee, TX, and Bridget Warlick; son, Wayne Orsak of Lumberton, TX; brothers, L.D. Price, Charles Ray Price and wife, Tutti; sisters, Patricia Price, and Brenda Walden and husband, Gerald; grandchildren, Lauren Challie, Gary Wayne, Kyle, Camden, Lena and Waylon Orsak, Logan Price and wife, Elizabeth, Alexis Kirchheiner, Weston Morgan and wife, Katelyn, Shapan Lafluer, Jennifer and Joey Laudig, Jessica Lang and husband, Greg, Ashley, Amy and Tyler Peavy, Sydnie Walter, and Lindsey Spencer and husband, Caleb; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

James is preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Anna Ruth Price; parents; sons, James Keynoth Price and Larry Dean Price; brothers, Earl Price, Keynoth Price, and Chester Price; sisters, Charlcie Steverson, and Martha Tiner; and great-grandson, Keston Morgan.

Visitation with family and friends will be 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 17, 2019, at Lumberton Family Funeral Home, 766 S. Main St., Lumberton, TX 77657. James’s life honoring funeral will follow at 10:00 a.m., with Gerald Walden officiating, and burial at 11:30 a.m. at Franks Branch Cemetery, Silsbee, TX.
