James Michael Johnson, 66, of Lumberton, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. He was born on February 17, 1960 in Kountze, TX.
A gentle, quiet man whose steady presence and kind heart shaped the lives of everyone who knew him, he was introverted by nature, he never sought attention, yet his warmth, humor, and devotion made him unforgettable. Mike met the love of his life, Stacy, through family. She initially thought he was a 50 year old man with ten kids, though he was only 29 at the time. Mike, smitten from the moment he saw her, couldn’t help but stare. After six months of talking, they married on September 28, 1989. Together, they welcomed two daughters, and Mike cherished every moment spent with them, whether they were out hunting, fishing, or simply enjoying the outdoors. Mike spent most of his working years as a truck driver. After retiring, he continued to embrace the things he loved most. Dirt track racing became one of his favorite pastimes. The arrival of his granddaughter brought him a new kind of joy, as he became “Pop Pop”. Being her grandfather was one of his greatest blessings. Mike will be remembered for his quiet strength and the simple, steady way that he lived. He will be missed.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Stacy Johnson of Lumberton, TX; daughters, Tiffany Knight and husband, Lewis of Paris, AR and Tori Johnson of Lumberton, TX; mother, Mary Ellen Johnson; brother, Glen Johnson and wife, Shelley of Lumberton, TX; sisters, Jodene McCraw and husband, Paul and Denise Domec and husband, Jeff both of Lumberton, TX; granddaughter, Carli Knight of Paris, AR; and a host of nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers in law and friends.
