Homer Odom Obituary

Homer Elton Odom, 88, passed away in Beaumont on Wednesday, January 13, 2021. Born March 28, 1932 in Houston, Texas to Ada Vera & Harmon Odom and was one of eight children. Growing up in the Beaumont are his entire life, Homer was a kind Texas gentleman with hard shell with a warm goey center. Homer met Margaret Emma Lou Thomas Odom, the love of his life, and married her in 1955. Together Homer and Margaret had three children and raised a loving family. A commercial truck driver for most of his career, Homer was a hard worker and consummate provider for his family; always wanting the best for his family and making sure his family and beloved wife had all they needed. Homer loved to discuss politics and argue, always ready to go have a cup of coffee with his boys at the supply company. Pawpaw to his four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren- Homer was an amazing grandfather with lots of love to share. Homer’s lovable and opinionated commentary and wit will be missed dearly by all who knew him, and his memory will not soon be forgotten.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Randy Odom and wife Charlene of Dexter, GA, Ricky Odom and wife Thalia of Springfield, MO, Karen Garner and husband Paul of Beaumont, TX; his brother, Richard Odom; his grandchildren, Brandon Odom and wife Morgan, Summer Hinton and husband Kevin, Jacob Odom and wife Ashley, Kelsie Garner and fiancé Weston Martin; his great grandchildren, Caleb and Haylee Hinton, as well as his “second daughter”, Linda King.

Homer was preceded in death by his parents, Harmon and Ada Odom; his beloved wife, Margaret Emma Lou Odom; and his silblings, Omer Odom, James Odom, Chester Odom, Gordy Odom, Dorothy Begnaud and Merlene Nicholas.

The family will be having a private Celebration of Life.
