Hector Recio

Héctor Recio, of League City, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at the age of 86 years old. He was surrounded by heavenly joy when he entered the eternal glory and beheld the radiant face of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Héctor was born to Leopoldo Recio and Maria Garza Recio, on January 10, 1939, in Elsa, TX. He moved to Port Arthur, Texas at an early age where he attended Thomas Jefferson High School, before joining the US Army. After serving four years in the Army, Hector returned home to Port Arthur and became a longshoreman, before proudly working for Texaco as a Process Operator for 30 years. In his position, he exemplified dedication and hard work before retiring in 2004. As a prayer warrior, he was destined for a life of purpose. He devoted his life to Jesus, sharing the Word and praying with and for his loved ones and for those in need. His bright spirit, contagious smile, and unwavering willingness to lend a helping hand inspired many. Héctor’s greatest treasures on Earth were his family, friends and his three beautiful granddaughters, Alexia, Alyana and Aleira, all whom brought him immense joy, delight and overflowing love.

With a jovial encouraging nature, Hector played a significant role in each of his young nephew’s, neice’s, and children’s lives. He enjoyed moments spent with them either by talking on the phone, watching boxing, playing cards, and watching and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys for life. He passed on his passion of fishing, hunting and barbecuing to his beloved nephews, Louis Hernandez, Roy Hernandez, Jesse Castro, and Victor Castro, with memorable overnight fishing trips to Pleasure Island and Crystal Beach, numerous hunting trips to Bandera and Kansas, and barbecuing to Corrios and Freddy Fender. Héctor also had a love of life of by indulging in late-night snacks like carrot cake and pecan pie, savoring seafood, especially fried shrimp and eating chips with his granddaughters.

Left to honor his memory is his son, Richard Rico Recio; granddaughters, Alexia Recio, Alyana Recio, and Aleira Recio; ex-wife Janie Recio; stepchildren, Angela and husband, Cody Sewell, and David Estrada Jr; sisters, Mary Weatherford, Jane Garcia and Hope Perez; brother, Leo Recio and wife, Brenda; and a host of extended family, friends and loved ones.

He is proceeded, in Heaven, by his parents, Leopoldo and Maria Recio; sister, Stella Castro; brothers-in-law, Roy Hernandez Sr, James Weatherford, Lee Garcia, Emile Perez, Victor Castro Sr; and nephew, David Perez.

Héctor's legacy will live on through the memories and lives of all those he loved.
