Harold Douglas Cunningham

Harold Douglas Cunningham, age 81, of Silsbee, TX, passed away on Monday, October 22, 2025. He was born in Liberty, TX, on July 29, 1944, and raised by his beloved mother, Gladys Hollyfield Cunningham.

A man of unwavering kindness, strength, and spirit, Harold was known for his tender heart and sharp wit. He had a way of lighting up every room he entered, and his quick sense of humor and outgoing nature made him a friend to many and a stranger to none. Born into a family where devotion ran deep, Harold was shaped by the example of his beloved mother, Gladys, who poured her heart into raising her children. That same fierce love for family became a cornerstone of Harold’s life. He carried it with him through every chapter, from his proud service in the United States Air Force alongside his brother Dee, to savoring his momma’s chicken and dumplings with fried cornbread. Harold was a carpenter by trade, a craftsman. He learned to hunt and fish as a boy, skills that connected him to the land and to his grandfather. But it was in 1999, during a revival at Wiley Mae Pentecostal Church, that Harold experienced a transformation. Touched by the Spirit of the Lord, he embraced a new path, one of faith and redemption, and never looked back. Life tested Harold with trials, losing his sight and the amputation of his leg, but he met each challenge with courage. He never let adversity steal his joy. Whether sharing coffee and conversation with friends at Brookshire Bros or making his way to church, Harold showed up with a smile, a compliment for every lady he met, and a heart full of gratitude. His charm brought many nurses to adore him. Harold was strong and loving and his memory will live on in the lives he touched, the hearts of his family and friends, and the faith he carried to the end. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered.

Left to honor his memory are his sister, Eugenia Moore; brother, Dee Cunningham and wife, Cheryl; daughters, Sherry and Diane; his Brookeshire Bros coffee buddies; and a host of extended family, friends, and loved ones.

Preceding Harold in death is his mother and brothers, Thomas Clayton “T.C.” Cunningham and Donald Ray Cunningham.

Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, October 23, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at Wiley Mae Pentecostal Church, 8545 FM 92, Silsbee, TX 77656. Life honoring funeral services will begin at 4:00 p.m., also at the church, with Pastor E. Barnhill officiating and interment to follow at Franks Branch Cemetery, 21650 FM 92, Silsbee, TX 77656
