Glendle Wallace Obituary

Glendle “Ray” Wallace, 84, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021. Ray was born in Henderson, Texas on June 7, 1937 to W.E. and Mona Wallace. Ray was one of six children, growing up and living his entire life in the Southeast Texas area.

To know Ray was to know a man of God who deeply loved his Lord, family, church family, and friends. Ray was dedicated to his service at his church home of Pine Forest Baptist Church of Vidor and later First Baptist of Vidor where he served as a deacon and even played on the church softball teams. Quick to share a smile and a laugh, Ray loved to tease those he cared about and truly never met a stranger. An extroverted and almost eccentric man, Ray was genuinely happy most of the time and enjoyed sharing that happiness and good mood with others. If you knew Ray, you knew his wife Betty too because he was never far from her side; his devoted wife and life partner of more than 58 years, Betty and Ray built a family and legacy of love with their three daughters. PawPaw to his grandchildren and Dad to his girls, Ray was a loving family man and a great teacher and friend to his sons-in-law. Always busy and moving, Ray enjoyed many things over his decades of living- softball in city leagues, cards and dominos with friends and family, fishing, working on classic cars and handing down his extensive mechanical knowledge to his sons-in-law. Ray was also an avid reader- be that his Bible or a selection from his treasured western collection of Louis L'amour novels. No matter how you met him, how you knew him, or in what capacity Ray impacted your life- one thing is certain, he will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Terri Kay Herring and husband Martin, Mona Lee Dawson and husband Jim, Lisa Diann Tristan and husband Ariel; his sister, Helen Henson; his grandchildren, Brandon Herring, Lorin Hester and husband Cary, Travis Janise and wife Ashley, Tanner Dawson and wife Kacie, Carden Tristan and wife Maria, Cameron Tristan; and his great-grandchildren, Harper Herring, Makynzie Hester, Paislee Hester, Braxton Hester, Krislynn Hollingsworth, Trayvin Janise, Noah Janise and Olivia Tristan.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, W.E. and Mona Edith Wallace; his wife, Betty Ann Walace; his siblings, Walter Wallace, Geraldine Woodall, Leon Wallace and Wayne Wallace.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Herring, Lorin Hester, Travis Janise,  Tanner Dawson, Carden Tristan and Cameron Tristan.
