Glenda Sims Obituary

Glenda Gale Sims, 76, of Silsbee, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2020.

Glenda was born in Silsbee, TX on November 17, 1943 to J L and Irene Sims. After graduating high school at 18, she started working for GulfState Utilities, which would later turn in to Entergy and was proud to have worked for and retire from the company. She found joy in her family and her church – the most important things in her life. Glenda was very involved in church her entire life and loved teaching Sunday School. She loved and cherished her sweet church family. A caring sister and devoted aunt, she would give all the time in the world to spend with her family, especially her beloved nieces and nephews. She loved to have them over to her house where she would play her organ while they would sing church hymns. Glenda loved traveling with her siblings, making trips to Hawaii, the Bahamas, and traveling by train to Arizona. Glenda enjoyed reading, working on crosswords, and putting puzzles together. She also had a passion in researching and studying genealogy. Glenda was a sweet, compassionate lady and will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

Left to cherish her memory are her siblings, Dorothy Sims Burk of Lumberton, James Lee Sims of Silsbee, Eddie Joe Sims and wife Penny of Spring Branch, Roy Lynn Sims of Nacogdoches, Jerry Dale Sims and wife Jennifer of Roswell, NM, and J L Sims Jr. and wife Dee of Leonard; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family, as well as her best friend Dessie Griffin.

Glenda is preceded in death by her parents, Irene and J L Sims Sr. and her siblings, Jimmy Dale Sims, Sarah Ola Oliver, and Glen Edward Sims.

Glenda was a member of Lumberton Apostolic Church. Pastor Weldon Flowers will officiate her graveside service at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 23, at Spring Ridge Cemetery in San Augustine County.
