Faye LaKnight Nelson, age 68, of Beaumont, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026. She was born on August 18, 1957, in Isola, MS.
To know her was to know a woman who refused to be anything but herself, bold and spirited. She was a pistol, full of life and grit. Faye had a heart of pure gold, even if she sometimes showed it in her own way. She had a habit of doing the opposite of what she was told, just to prove that she could, and that fierce independence shaped her life. She loved the outdoors; she loved to be free and never missed a chance to enjoy a good time with friends. She loved music, especially anything with rhythm, because she loved to dance. Faye was a gifted cook, and she enjoyed spending time in the kitchen. A Christian, Faye held Jesus close in her thoughts and in her heart. Above all, Faye lived life on her own terms. She didn’t just walk her path; she made her own way. She leaves behind a legacy of strength and authenticity, and her memory will forever be in the hearts of all who loved her.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Joshua Nelson and Tasha Nelson; sisters, Helen Rasch and husband, Bill, Doris Thompson, and Teresa Ratliff and husband, Johnny; grandchildren, Damion Bryant and wife, Katy, and Hayden Nelson; the father of her children, Robert Nelson; and a host of extended family, friends, and loved ones.
Preceding Faye in death is her father, Dan Byrd; mother, Effie Graves and step father, Pierce Easterling; son, Robert "Robbie" Nelson; 2 brothers, and 5 sisters.
