Estelle Roberta Holst Kincaid

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Estelle Roberta Holst Kincaid, age 91, on Friday, January 3, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband Daniel R. Kincaid. They were married for 67 years and had one son: Robert G. Kincaid, and daughter-in-law Carlyn. Estelle is also survived by her grandchildren: Jared L. Kincaid, Dana C. (Cody) Ensign, Kendall N. (Braeden) Thomas and L. Caitlin (Joshua) Vargas; as well as her great-grandchildren: Gage Vargas, Nataleigh Thomas, Sailor Thomas, Lila Vargas and Stormy Thomas; and one brother Giles Holst, as well as nieces and nephews and friends.

Estelle was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was born August 19, 1933, to Hiram Harland Holst and Marie Giles Holst in Beaumont, Texas. Growing up in the Piney Woods of East Texas, Estelle was one of four children.

Together, Estelle and Dan built a life together with humble beginnings and hard work. They built homes, fished at their beach cabin, hunted together, enjoyed gardening together, traveling extensively and sharing wonderfully cooked meals with family and friends.

Estelle also had a green thumb and enjoyed her abundance of plants which covered the entire backyard in an arboreum. Gracious to everyone in true Southern Belle style, she was a wonderful host and cook.  Estelle was extremely intelligent and talented. Having worked hard in various occupations as a secretary, bookkeeper, real estate agent and broker and later attended the school of nursing at Del Mar College.

To the amazement of her family, at the age of 54, she earned a degree as a Registered Nurse. Estelle cared for others in the Christus Spohn network for over 15 years and then continued nursing her husband in his final years.

Estelle’s family extends heartfelt appreciation for the staff at The Viera and Gentiva Hospice for their wonderful and patient caregiving.

“Monkie” as she was affectionately known, was a giving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother of unconditional love. Estelle was loved and cherished by her family and will be greatly missed by all. Her family yearns for the promised day stated at John 5:28,29 when all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and stand up again.

Private graveside services were held by family.
