Erich Sieffers

Erich Sieffers, age 88, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2024. Erich was born on November 13, 1936, in Riga, Latvia, to Kurt and Irene Sieffers.

He was an epitome of meticulous craftsmanship and relentless determination. Born to ethnic German parents in Latvia, Erich's early years were shaped in the home his father built by hand, using locally sourced timber. This environment fostered his innate ability to fix almost anything. Emigrating with his family to West Germany, Erich's indomitable spirit came to the fore. Whether it was quitting tobacco or tackling complex tasks, when Erich set his mind to something, it was accomplished with precision and persistence. His life was as varied as it was industrious, from toiling in the Ruhr region's coal mines to honing his skills as a tradesman shipwright. A self-taught pianist and opera enthusiast, Erich's love for music saw him play the trumpet in a band of local coalminers. An excellent cook, he put his love of detail in his culinary creations, delighting family and friends with his cranberry sauce, cucumber salad, meatballs, and barbecue. He loved traditional German food and had a bit of a sweet tooth. Upon moving to the United States, Erich applied his mechanical knowledge in copier shops and blueprint factories. Raised as a Lutheran, he cherished his private relationship with God, worshipping in his own unique way. Erich's life was a testament to perseverance, creativity, and deep pride in his work. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Left to honor his memory are his sons, Henry Sieffers and wife, Yelena, of Pearland, TX and Erich Stafford of La Grange, TX; sister-in-law, Wenke Sieffers; grandchildren, Olivia Sieffers, Nicholas Sieffers, Emma Stafford, and Beau Stafford; and numerous extended family, friends, and loved ones.

Preceding Erich in death are his parents and brother, Herbert Sieffers.

Visitation with family and friends will be held Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Lumberton Family Funeral Home, 766 S. Main St., Lumberton, TX 77657.
