Elton "Buster" Ogden Jr. Obituary

Elton Wayne “Buster” Ogden Jr., 60, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025, while on a trip with friends to fulfill a bucket-list pheasant hunt. Though his journey ended too soon, Buster lived a full life rooted in faith, family, friendship, and adventure. Born in Beaumont, Texas, Buster graduated from South Park High School in 1983. He was baptized at South Park Church of Christ in 1977 and was a member of Grace Church. He had a deep love for the outdoors—hunting, fishing, golfing, and winemaking—as well as a passion for cooking, arrow designing, and collecting both knives and guns. He loved his dogs and horses, and camo was his signature color. Buster never met a stranger. Each year, he looked forward to the South Park reunion with his best friend and cousin Todd and their lifelong friends—filled with dominoes, late-night grilling, and endless laughter. He loved betting on the Super Bowl with his three “lucky” Aunt Jemimas, watching the Kentucky Derby, Preakness, and Belmont Stakes, and playing the lottery with unmatched optimism. If he shared one of his knives with you, you knew you were family. He worked in quality control for over 30 years, including time at Connex, Signature Industrial Services (as part owner), and Fusion Mechanical Services.

Buster is survived by his wife of 22 years, Karen Kay Ogden; stepchildren Jasen Stanley and Rachel Sutton; his parents, Wayne and Pat Ogden; siblings Paige (Mike) Marlow and Heath (April) Ogden; and a large extended family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends who loved him deeply.

Buster will be remembered for his big heart, strong faith, unmatched cooking, and for living life with bold joy. He was truly one of a kind.
