Elmer Hensley Jr. Obituary

Mr. Elmer Trenton Hensley Jr, 90, of Lumberton passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2021.

A native of Houston, Texas and a resident of Lumberton for 49 years. He retired from Mobil Oil Corp after 36 years of service. A veteran of the Korean conflict with the 1st calvary division, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golf. Elmer loved tinkering in his shop and was always available to lend a helping hand to his neighbors and friends. He was a man of sheer dedication and regardless of the adversity he faced, he met it with a smile. Elmer’s love of sports once led him to enter a golf tournament, and although he had broken his finger playing basketball, he started and finished the tournament proving that he could truly do anything he set his mind to. He greatly embodied the definition of a family-man, Elmer loved his daughters with all his heart and made sure they knew it. Elmer and the love of his life Pauline had spent 63 years married, when she passed in 2015, a piece of Elmer went with her.

The passing of Elmer Hensley was the loss of a great man, but there is comfort to be found in the reuniting of two soulmates for eternity in the kingdom of our Heavenly Father.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Sherita Hensley Downs, Susan Hensley Collins and husband Coy, Tracey Hensley Fisher all of Lumberton; his brother, Thomas Hensley of New Waverly; his sister, Theresa Folse of Lumberton; his grandchildren, Jennifer McDaniel of Lumberton, Trent Downs of Vidor, Patrick Collins and wife Andrea of Lumberton, Maggie Mackinnon of Sidney, MT, Katie Miller and husband Bradlee of Jasper, Alex Fisher of Lumberton; his great-grandchildren, Kieren and Kinley McDaniel, Jacob and Luke Collins, Audree and Chesslee Miller, Ryland Russell, and Kendall Spears, as well as numerous friends and extended family.
