Edward George Lorenz

Mr. Edward George Lorenz, 88, of Lumberton, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 29, 2020. Ed was born on February 1, 1932 in Queens, NY to his parents, Marie (Novak) Lorenz and William Lorenz. One of 11 children, Ed grew up in a large family with a deep appreciation for family. Ed was a proud US Air Force Veteran where he served as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean War and an Alumni from the University of Texas where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in business.  Ed spent much of his life studying and ministering as a pastor for over 35 years. Ed’s love of quite time and biblical study was a constant comfort for him in his older years. As a younger man and father to three children, Ed enjoyed taking his family camping and fishing. As his children grew up and started families of their own many of his grandchildren would come to spend parts of their summer vacations at Grandpa’s house. Ed may have been a quiet and reserved man, but he loved his family and his faith deeply; he will be deeply missed by all his family, friends, and loved ones.

Left to honor Ed’s memory are his children: Dottie Rivers and husband Robin of Lumberton, Robbin Lorenz of Dallas, and Michael Lorenz of Orange; his siblings: Barbara, Stanley, Robert, and Elsie; his 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and a host of friends and loved ones.

Preceding Ed in death are his parents, Marie (Novak) Lorenz and William Lorenz; 6 of his brothers and sisters; his grandson Michael Lorenz Jr.; and his great-grandson Gavin Rivers.

To honor the life of Edward George Lorenz a graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at 3:00 PM at Antioch Cemetery in Buna, TX.
