Eddie E. Shamp, Jr., 88 of Beaumont, Texas passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 16, 2018 surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Melville, Louisiana to the late Eddie E. Shamp, Sr and Katherine Howard Shamp.
Eddie was a veteran of the Korean War, US Army, 82nd Airborne Division where he proudly served his country. Upon moving to Beaumont, Texas, he then joined the Beaumont Fire Department and after 35 years retired as District Chief.
He is survived by his five children, Evelyn Gonzales, Ann Acosta, Beverly Lewis, Eddie Shamp, III, Michael Shamp and their spouses; twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation by friends and family will be held on Wednesday, December 19th at Lumberton Family Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
Funeral services are scheduled at Lumberton Family Funeral Home for 1:00 pm Thursday, December 20th with services officiated by his grandsons, Pastor Chad Gonzales and Pastor Aaron Shamp. Music will be performed by Justin Gonzales and Joseph Shamp.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Justin Gonzales, Matthew Gonzales, Patrick Gonzales, Thomas Shamp, Joseph Shamp and great-grandson Micah Kurth.
Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
