Dwight Leon Rash, 79, of Lumberton, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. He was born on April 2, 1947 in San Augustine, TX.
The love of his life was his wife, Mary. They met at 17 and spent their lives together until her passing. He was a skilled metallurgist whose career took him to iron mills around the world. He took great pride in his work and the expertise he shared throughout his career. He was known for his straightforward personality. Dwight could be salty, and he never pretended to like someone he didn't. If you earned his respect, you had a loyal friend for life. In his free time, Dwight enjoyed antiquing and had a fondness for new cars, often buying one nearly every year. Dwight will be remembered for his strong work ethic and his authentic spirit. He will be missed.
Survivors include his daughter, Stephanie Rawlinson and husband, Todd, and dear friends and neighbors.
Preceding Dwight in death is his wife, Mary Rash; parents, Arnold Rash and Joyce Dunham Rash; and son, Chad Rash.
Visitation for family and friends will be Monday, July 13, 2026 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at Lumberton Family Funeral Home, 766 S Main St. Lumberton, TX 77657. He will be interned at Restlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs or to an organization of choice in Dwight's memory.
