Obituary

Arthur Dwayne Hunt, 77, of Lumberton, passed away on Wednesday, June 15 2022. Dwayne was born in Groves, Texas on July 28, 1944 to Cyrus Hunt and Eldie La Point Hunt.

Unyielding and settled in his certainty, his exceptional talent in music was comparative only to his unique intelligence, technical savvy, and mechanical competence. Dwayne loved music; he played piano, guitar, and even had a recording and mixing studio set up in his home. Dee and the Chandeliers was a band that he and friends formed in their youth, which gave him an opportunity to display the blessing of his talent. Growing up in Groves, as a child, the only son of his family, he enjoyed vacationing with his family, developing a special affection for the longtime family destination at the Rocky Mountain National Park. Engineering and mechanics came naturally to him, from his early career at IBM right out of college until his later years, if it contained wiring, circuitry, or anything the like, Dwayne’s hands found its assembly and construction natural to handle. Often, he could be found piloting a Beechcraft airplane, he enjoyed flying and found peace in the sky. Dwayne had his share of struggles, internally and those that life brings to us all, and like so many, he had a things he might want to have turned out differently, but in the end, he found a softness and opened his heart to his family. Though his journey here is over, Dwayne will be remembered for his special talents, determined nature, and the relationships that time and patience brought a healing to.

Left to honor his memory is his daughter, Regina McManus and husband Curtis of Jasper, Texas; sister, Barbara Hunt Ryan of Groves; granddaughters, Kristin Oxener and Zack, and Darian Watts and Zack; great grandchildren, Beau Watts and Adley Watts; and a host of extended family, friends, and loved ones.

Preceding Dwayne in death are his parents; sister, Emily Hunt Wills; and his beloved sidekick, dog, and baby, “Neches."
