Douglas Wayne Broussard

From Monday, June 15, 1959, the day Doug was born in the elevator at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont Texas, He did things his way.  He wildly pursued an interest in motorcycles, cars, boats, planes and well anything with a motor in it, both life sized and remote controlled. Doug was a very good mechanic and could build or fix all these motors. It was his love for mechanics and aviation that led him into the military, where he excelled as a crew chief on a Chinook helicopter.  When Doug relocated back to his hometown in Texas, he translated these skills into work in industrial maintenance, and with his extensive knowledge and experience, he was good at it.  If they were presented with a challenge they would jokingly say “Doogle it”, in other words go get Doug.  Doug loved people and animals and was very kindhearted and loyal. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Jean Fitzsimmons and stepfather, Burton Wolf Fitzsimmons Jr.

Left to cherish his memory is Suzette Broussard, loving wife of ten years, and (childhood friends), daughter, Emily Smith and husband Alex; son, Landon Broussard, stepdaughter, Jacqueline Kelly, a sister, Kathy Romeo and husband Ronald; two brothers, David Broussard, and Michael Fitzsimmons and wife Tina, numerous and cherished nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, and friends.

Memorial Visitation will be held Friday May 17, 2024 from 1 to 2 pm at Lumberton Family Funeral Home.  Memorial Services will begin at 2 pm also at Lumberton Family Funeral Home.
