Donald Matthews

Donald Dee Matthews, 76, of Lumberton, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2026. He was born on May 23, 1950, in Shreveport, LA.

Left to cherish his memory is his brother, Glenn Matthews; sisters, Rebecca Matthews and Roxanne Farnell and husband, Ronnie; sister-in-law, Roni Matthews; stepmother, Helen Matthews; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and loved ones.

Preceding Donald in death is his father, Drew Matthews; mother, Pansy Matthews; brothers, Roger Matthews, Charles Matthews, and John Matthews; and “sissy’s”, Debra Claiborne and Rhonda Matthews-Roll.

The family would like to extend their special thanks to Village Creek Nursing and Rehab for their care during his last few months, and to Whataburger in Lumberton for hosting Donald and his friends every morning.

Visitation for family and friends will be Monday, August 24, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m., at Lumberton Family Funeral Home, 766 S Main St. Lumberton, TX 77657. Donald’s life honoring funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 24, 2026, at Lumberton Family Funeral Home. Private family interment will be at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor, TX.
