Derek Justin Compton

Derek Justin Compton, age 35, of Vidor, TX passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023.  Derek was born in Beaumont, TX on November 5, 1987, to Wesley Compton and Sheila Greathouse Compton.

Derek was a loving father, son, brother, nephew, cousin, and best of all, friend. Derek served in the Army National Guard before pursuing a career in marine transportation. In his off time, he enjoyed spending quality time with his son, Peyton.

Left to honor his memory is his son, Peyton Compton, of Vidor, TX; mother, Sheila Greathouse Woods of Vidor, TX; sister, Brittany Compton of Vidor, TX; and a host of family, friends, and loved ones, all of whom will miss his pleasant personality.

Preceding him in death is his father, Wesley Compton; grandparents, Howard, and Barbara Greathouse; and cousins, Tanner Smith, and Brooks Middleton. 

Visitation will be Saturday, April 29, 2023, from4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Lumberton Family Funeral Home.
