Dennis Lamont Shaffer, 73, of Kountze passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2020. Dennis was born on May 7, 1947 in Emlenton, PA to Lamont and Beatrice Shaffer. One of four children, Dennis grew up knowing the value of family. When people talk of Dennis, family and love are always mentioned first; his favorite time of year was deer season when he could hunt, travel, and enjoy time spent with his family over holidays and good food. Truly a family man, Dennis was married to the love of his life Sue Smith Shaffer for almost 36 years. Together Dennis and Sue had a large family of five children and twenty grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Dennis deeply loved his children and grandchildren, always willing to drop anything to in order to be “Dad” for his children and “PaPaw” for his grandbabies. Overalls, a recliner, and a good black and white John Wayne movie on the television or perhaps antagonizing the loser over a game of cards or Bunco is how many of Dennis’ grandbabies will remember him best. A hard worker and consummate provider, Dennis worked in Oil & Gas for more than 40 years before his retirement from Motiva. After retirement, Dennis could often be found spending his time exercising at the Beaumont Wellness Center, where friendly faces and good conversation were a favorite diversion for him. Dennis was liked by everyone who knew him for his simple and honest approach to life and his constant support of his family; he will truly be missed by all those that knew him.
Left to cherish Dennis’ memory is his wife, Sue Smith Shaffer of Kountze; his children, Dennise Walker of Greenville, Johnathan Bolser and wife Kristin of Beaumont, Christopher Bolser and wife Dana of Kountze, Troy Bolser and wife Kelly of Beaumont, and Danny Thomas of Kountze; his siblings, Deanna Garner and Sandra Alm; his grandbabies, Syleena, Kimberly, Justin, Claudia, Kyle, Kourtney, Rylee, Kannon, Rhett, Carter, Zachary, and Mattie; his great-grandbabies, Clayton, Jaxon, Jake, Abigail, Kaiden, Luke, Kason, and Kullen; as well as numerous extended family members, co-workers and friends over the years.
Preceding Dennis in death are his parents, Lamont Shaffer and Beatrice Heeter Shaffer; and his brother, Dale Shaffer.
Cremation services have been entrusted to Lumberton Family Funeral Home.
