David Cluck Sr. Obituary

David Dwain Cluck Sr.., age 74, of Lumberton, TX, passed away on July 21, 2021. He was born to Raymond Rexford and Mary Eliza Seaman Cluck on April 15, 1947 in Beaumont, TX.

Viewing life through his quiet, steady nature, David lived for the beauty that is so often hidden in simplicity. Tirelessly devoted to frugality, he was an unrepentant penny-pincher; so much so, that listening closely enough, one might hear him squeaking as he walked silently by. Somewhat of a homebody, his heart was at peace in his home, but his passion was found in the outdoors. It was here that he found the solitude that he loved so well, yet also while hunting, fishing and enjoying nature, he became a mentor, and none knew this better than his kids. He shared many special, sometimes especially interesting moments with his children. Growing up down by the old fair grounds, back in the day, Beaumont was his home, growing up there and graduating from French High School. Many years were spent as a welder, most of his life, until he transitioned into driving a dump truck for a short while. Every morning would start with the love of his life, Connie, always drinking two cups of coffee, a bottle of orange juice, and if the mood called for it, a sip or two of water, though he never much cared for it. What did care for was Connie’s cooking, especially her roast, one of his favorites. David liked a good story and would coolly respond to just about any situation with his trademark retort, “Lord, have mercy”. The exhilaration of interesting, reality tv shows that had a big reveal at the conclusion of the episode were his favorite; he indulged and fixated on the reactions and the plot twists. If his favorite shows weren’t on, he would follow various sports: boxing, softball, the World Series of baseball, football, and many others. David loved his family; he lived for them, as a husband, father, and grandfather; and he found joy in the wonderful intricacies and innocence of a simple life. Though he is gone, he will be forever remembered and missed, as his memory dwells on in the hearts of his loved ones.

Left to honor his memory is his loving wife, Connie Rogers Cluck; daughters, Karen Anselmo Cluck and fiancé, Trey Cox, of Lumberton, TX and Kimberly Gallier-Cluck and wife, Sheri; son, David Cluck Jr. and wife, Angela, of Lumberton, TX; grandchildren, Peyton Cluck, Aubrey Cluck, Ashlin Anselmo, and Karsyn Cox; and numerous friends and loved ones.

Preceding David in death are his parents and brother, John Rexford.
