Dan George Burge, “Buddy”, age 83, of Lumberton, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024. He was born in Loeb, TX, on March 31, 1940, to Willie Burge and Rena Iguess.
Dan married the love of his life, Hazel Poe in 1960 and they have had 64 loving years together. When his family was younger, he would take lake trips and trips to the farm with the family. Buddy, as most knew him, was a carpenter by trade and was a very skilled craftsman. He has built almost everyone he knows new cabinets for their kitchen. Buddy loved to fish, hunt and grew some of the best vegetables you had ever tasted. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids and loved to be called “Paw paw”. He was always watching those old westerns playing on the TV.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Hazel Burge; daughter, DeeAnn Burge; siblings, Bill Burge and Annie Burkett; grandchildren, Dillon Jordan, Brandon Bodden, Haylee Bodden and Lyndi Allien; and great-grandchildren, Korbyn Elkins, Braylee Bodden, Asher Allien, and Brynn Bodden.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lynda Jordan; and siblings, Lois Bayless and BB Burge.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dillon Jordan, Brandon Bodden, Michael Morgan, Jerry Burkett, Jason Burge, Larry Poe
