Curtis Potts Obituary

Curtis Wade Potts, age 64, passed from this life on January 1, 2026. He was born in Kountze, TX on September 1, 1961, to Don Irwin Potts and Linda Jo Richardson.

Curtis lived his life with a joyful spark, of humor, of determination, of deep love, that never dimmed. Born with a natural gift for making others smile, he delighted in both entertaining and being entertained. He carried that lightheartedness with him everywhere. Life on Perdido Bay suited him perfectly. He was never one for being overdressed, and his preferred outfit of shorts and sandals matched his easygoing nature. His love story with his wife, Donna, began just as beautifully as it continued: with a first dance and a long walk by the Bay. That simple, perfect evening marked the beginning of a partnership filled with laughter, devotion, and kind companionship. Restlessness was part of Curtis’s charm, he could hardly stay still, especially when the water was calling. He loved to fish, and the water became his refuge and his playground. When Curtis set his mind to something, he was unstoppable. By trade, Curtis was an electrician. He played drums professionally in his youth and picked them up again in his later years. He was the family cook. His crab cakes were delicious, and he took great joy in grilling, especially seafood that he had caught.  Above all, Curtis loved deeply. He was proud of his daughter, Kelsey, his joking buddy, his joy, and one of the brightest parts of his life. Their bond was built on humor and affection. He was a man of faith, grounded in his Christian beliefs and devoted to his Catholic tradition. His faith shaped his values and his character. Though he is gone, his spirit will be missed, but his legacy will continue to echo in the hearts of his loved ones.

Left to honor his memory is his wife, Donna Potts; daughter, Kelsey Lynn Camp; grandson, Robert Camp; cousins, Anne Collins and Gerald Potts; and a host of extended family, friends, and loved ones.

Preceding Curtis in death are his parents and brother, Weldon Jack Aldy.

Life honoring services will be planned at a later date in Pensacola.
