Connie McCraw Obituary

Mrs. Connie Louise (Barber) McCraw, 70, of Silsbee, went home to her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 8, 2022. Connie was born one of nine children to Mr. James Press “J.P.” Barber and Mrs. Audrey (Redmon) Barber in Port Arthur, Texas on Tuesday, May 13, 1952.

Connie was a loving mother and devoted grandmother who truly devoted her life to loving her children and grandbabies who were the light of her life. A hairdresser by trade and a sometimes comically stubborn woman, Connie was independent and driven to succeed in life to be able to care for her family. Known as “MawMaw” to most of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Connie only answered to “Grandma” for her youngest granddaughter who was determined to change the name. When not working, you could still find Connie working away but on crafting projects and new seedlings for her garden instead. It is hard to imagine a kinder woman with a bigger heart, and Connie will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Ronnie Morris Jr. and wife Christie, and Heather Turner and husband Dustin; her grandchildren: Ronnie Morris III, Bridget McKee and husband Justen, Justin Morris, Austin Turner, and Harper Turner; her great-grandchildren: Justen McKee Jr., Linda McKee, Benjamin McKee, Delbert McKee, Levi Morris, Weston Morris, and Ryder Morris; her siblings: Doris Mitchell, brother-in-law Mike Wiggins, Charlotte Sonnier and partner David Young, Marie Stanley and husband Bo, James Albert Barber, and Michael Joe Barber; as well as numerous extended family members, loved ones, and friends through the many years.

Connie is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Wayne Barber; her sister Sharron Rebecca Wiggins; and her sister Barbara Allen Judalet.

Cremation services have been entrusted to Lumberton Family Funeral Home and the family will honor Connie’s life with a Celebration of Life at a later date.
