Clifford Phelps Obituary

Clifford Wayne Phelps, age 41, was “set free” on Friday, September 5, 2025. He was born on May 6, 1984, in Galveston, TX.

Cliff was a firecracker. He lived with a fearless heart, a mischievous grin, and a spirit that refused to be tamed. Cliff didn’t tiptoe through life, he stomped, danced, and laughed his way through it, leaving behind a trail of unforgettable memories and a whole lot of stories. He was a prankster through and through. If Cliff wasn’t aggravating you, he probably didn’t love you enough yet. From prank calls to harmless mischief, he had a knack for stirring the pot. Though he would often tell on himself, he could talk his way out of anything, with a charm that made it impossible to stay mad. He loved to make people laugh, and he did it with ease. Cliff had a big, forgiving heart. He treated others the way he wanted to be treated, and he never held grudges. He loved fiercely, his momma, his family, and anyone he pulled into his orbit. He was always trying to get folks together, to make sure no one felt alone. He believed in connection, in laughter, and in living without shame or fear. He loved women and fires. Cliff lived his live fully and unconditionally. Though he’s gone from our sight, Cliff will be remembered in every laugh, every prank, and every family gathering he inspired. He taught to live unafraid, to love big, and to never take life too seriously. He was one of a kind, and we wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Now he is free.

He is survived by his parents, John and Sandra Phelps; his children, Breanna and John Wayne Phelps, Jerracho and Jordan Moreno; his sibling’s; sisters, Kelly and husband, Billy Stephenson, Diana and husband, Clint Norris, and Shawna Breaux, brothers, Lloyd and wife, Katelin Breaux, Mitchell and wife, Hannah Blaylock; and many nieces and nephews; Michelle Singleton and Tonya Stenn, who loved him dearly.

He is preceded in death by Bonnie Theriot; and grandparents, Jerald and Marion Phelps.

Cliff’s life honoring memorial service will begin at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 13, 2025, at the Apostolic Lighthouse of Sour Lake, 195 S Cannon St, Sour Lake, TX 77659.
