Charles Marshall Obituary

Charles Rondle Marshall, age 81, of Lumberton, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024. He was born in Beaumont, TX, on November 20, 1942, to Lawrence Wortham and Edna Shannon Marshall.

A gentle soul with a heart full of love, he embraced the simple joys of life. Charlie found contentment in his front porch chair, with a good cup of coffee in hand, watching the birds and relishing the peace and comfort of his surroundings. He was an example of patience and kindness, never giving up on those he loved. His daily calls to his children, complete with a weather report and family updates, always ended with his cheerful "later!". His devotion to his family knew no bounds, and he would do anything to support and care for them. The holiday season held a special place in Charlie's heart. He went above and beyond to make it magical and intimate for his family. Music was a cherished part of his life; his harmonica and guitar filled many moments with joy, whether playing with friends or a few music legends. A proud veteran, Charlie honorably served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. His love for his country was unwavering. Charlie leaves behind a legacy of encouragement and love, a testament to a life well-lived. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Left to honor his memory is his beloved wife, Jo Ann Marshall; son, Jody Marshall and wife Kristal; daughter, Amber Marshall Buchanan and husband David, of Labelle, TX; grandchildren, Tanner Williamson and wife Kara, Blake Williamson and wife Susanna, both of Fannett, TX and Kylea Ann Buchanan of Galveston, TX; great-grandchildren, Evan Jay and Anna Claire Williamson; along with a host of extended family, friends, and loved ones.

Preceding him in death are his parents; sister, Charlene Cryer; and brothers, L. W. Marshall, Jackie Marshall, and Billy Ray Marshall.
