Catherine Ann (Ball) Jones

Catherine Ann (Ball) Jones, age 57, of Nederland, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2026. She was born on December 29, 1968, in Port Arthur, TX.

Love was her guide, and she poured her warmth and passion into life’s blessings. She loved her family fiercely, always reminding her children that they were her greatest blessing. As a proud “Nonni,” she treasured every visit and every moment. Catherine wanted to be surrounded by her family. Her faith guided her. A devoted Christian, she trusted in God’s Word and carried a reverence that shaped her life. Catherine’s compassion shone brightest in her work as a caregiver, a role she embraced with pride and tenderness. Stylish, spontaneous, and free-spirited, her presence would instantly fill a room. At the beach she found her escape and peace, alongside late night gardening and live music. She lived by the words “family is everything,” and her life reflected that love in every way. Though she is gone, she will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Left to cherish her memory are sons, Gavin Vade Hammond and wife, Kira McNiel and Patrick Zachary Hammond; daughter, Jenna Lynn Hammond; step-daughters, Jessica Marie Stephens and Julia Ann Gautreaux; sister, Kristin Kimberly Aleywine and husband, Pat; brother, Douglas Leslie Ball; grandchildren, Xylus Porter Hammond, Laura Marie Hammond, Bentley Lee Trahan, Elroy Joseph Gautreaux, Brynley Marie Valka, and Eli Michael Valka whom she loved very much; nieces and nephews, Alec Aleywine, Ashlyn Thomas, JanAnn Aleywine, and Drake Ball; and a host of extended family, friends, and loved ones.

Preceding Catherine in death is her father, Douglas Porter Ball; husband, Rory Kent Jones; best friend, Laura Marie Jones; and the father of her children, Patrick H. Hammond.

Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., at Grace Baptist Church of Groves, 3417 Berry Ave Groves, TX 77619. Catherine’s life honoring funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Grace Baptist Church of Groves, 3417 Berry Ave Groves, TX 77619. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, TX.
