Mrs. Carolyn Mae Smith Hebert, 75, of Lumberton, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2020 at Harbor Hospice of Beaumont. Carolyn was born on January 4, 1945 to Charles Henry Smith and Mae Helen Metcalf Smith in Beaumont, TX. One of five girls, Carolyn had no shortage of companionship growing up. Carolyn was the epitome of the true southern woman, a devout Christian with deep rooted beliefs and values; she was kind to others above all and truly loved to help people. Caregiving was second nature to Carolyn, which is why her chosen field of healthcare suited her so well; most recently Carolyn spent more than 14 years working with Harbor Hospice of Beaumont making fond memories and lasting friendships. When not working, Carolyn was passionate about her roles in life as a wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and even dog-mom to her “Bud”; each of these roles held special meaning for her and her love of being there for her family was evident in all she did. If you were looking for Carolyn outside of work on a Friday, you’d be most likely to find her cheering louder than all the rest at the local football and basketball games for Silsbee High School; she was proud of her local teams and never let anyone doubt it! Carolyn was a selfless and caring woman who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Robert Alexander Hebert of Lumberton; her daughters-in-law: Tonya Hebert of Galveston, and Renae Hebert of Silsbee; her sisters: Charlotte Ferris, Katie Brown, Diana Jones, and Mary Santo; her grandchildren: Madisyn Maree Hebert, Isabella Marie Peters, Taylor Fomby, and Charlye Hebert; her great-grandchildren: Rylee Luna, Cooper Fomby, and Mason Van Winkle; and her many co-workers and friends from Harbor Hospice and so many other places.
Preceding Carolyn in death is her devoted husband W.A. “Dub” Hebert IV; her parents, Charles and Mae Helen Smith; and her son, William Charles Alexander Hebert.
To honor Carolyn’s life, the family will have a Memorial Service on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Lumberton Family Funeral Home, 766 S. Main St., Lumberton, TX 77657. The family kindly requests that in lieu of any flowers or plants, those wishing to honor Carolyn’s life do so by making a charitable donation to one of the two places near to her heart: Harbor Hospice of Beaumont or First Baptist Church of Silsbee.
