Carolyn Borel Obituary

Ms. Carolyn Sue (Liggett) Borel, 78, of Beaumont, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021. Carolyn was born in Quanah, TX on September 7, 1943, to Claude and Dorothy Liggett.

Carolyn was a sweet, kindhearted woman who loved her family and her Lord. A faithful member of Westgate Church of Christ which was a second home to her; Carolyn loved to be involved in her church. A lover of games, Carolyn could always be talked into a game of cards or dominos.

Carolyn loved her job with State Farm where she worked as an insurance adjuster until her retirement. Whenever she had free time, Carolyn loved to try new things- like square dancing- and enjoyed spending time in the sunshine and at the beach.

Family was super important to Carolyn, and she loved her grandbabies so much; in fact, most people referred to her as Maw just like here grandbabies did.

Carolyn will be deeply missed for her smile, her energy, and her kind spirt. Her legacy and memory will not soon be forgotten.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Diane Verchio and partner Keith Wheat; her grandchildren, Meghan Counts, Keturah Smith and husband Ameen, Bobby Counts, Sage Counts, Leah Counts, Joseph Verchio, Grace Verchio, and Kelsey Wheat; and her great-grandson, Nash Counts.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Nolan and Dorothy (Satterfield) Liggett; her son, Leon Counts; and her grandchild, Dakota Counts.

Carolyn’s life honoring memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2021, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Westgate Church of Christ in Beaumont.
