Belinda Menchaca Obituary

Belinda Ann Menchaca, age 67, passed away on December 29, 2021. Belinda was born on August 13, 1954 in in Port Arthur, TX to Manuel and Ana Maria Rodriguez Menchaca.

Through her eyes, life was viewed through a lens of happiness, devotion, and love. Through the hills and valleys that she faced, she wanted only to see the goodness that she tried to herself express, not the bad things so often mire one’s heart. Belinda expressed her inherent goodness and love for life in simple ways: her unforgettable style of humor, ceaselessly opening her home to friends and family, and selflessly giving without hesitation to those in need, even though she might go without. When it came to football, one team mattered, her Cowboys. And while several of the family, proudly bled Cowboys blue with her, she thoroughly enjoyed calling the dissenting Saint’s fans to let them know that the Cowboys were the best and to watch the scoreboard. Though accompanying a loss her consolement was always directed toward her beloved sister, quipping “I’ll let Cynthia win this time.” A proud grandmother, when she became a great-grandmother, Grandma found a more room in her heart for her “Gigi’s”, loving them without reservation. Belinda had a special way of looking at life, and though she is gone, her smile, her laughter, and her boundless love will be forever cherished by her family and friends.

Left to honor her memory is her mother Annie Menchaca; daugthers, Elizabeth Sifuentes and Jill Trejo and spouse, Francisco Trevino; sisters, Alma Lopez and husband, Danny, Maria “Lupe” Menchaca and husband, Dave Smith; grandchildren, Linda Guillen and husband, Jorge, Federico “Junior” Sifuentes, Ashley Trejo and fiancé, Juan Melindez, Eriqa Rideaux, Jazmine Torres, Rebeca Torres, Pashance Rideaux, Celest Torres, Promise Rideaux, and Elijah Rideaux; great-grandchildren, Thai Sifuentes, Mila Sifuentes, Christian Sifuentes, Juliana Guillen, and Liliana Guillen;  brothers-in-law, Paul Lona and David Rodriguez; numerous nieces and nephews, though she shared a special bond with Melissa Zambrano and Manuel Menchaca; and many extended family and friends.

Belinda is preceded in death by her father and sisters, JoEllen Lona and Cynthia Rodriguez.
