Beatrice “Bea” Marie Chisholm, age 91, passed away on June 11, 2021. Beatrice was born on June 19, 1929 to John and Eva Lompre Maynard.
Fiesty, devoted, whomever she loved and whatever she endeavored to do, Bea fully invested herself. The deep love that she had for her family not only endeared Bea to them, but they knew that she lived for them, believed in them and supported them. She was a true lady, good and honest, helping any need. Growing up in Port Huron, MI,. raised by her mother, to Bea this is where she found the footprints for her own heart. When Bea’s father died young, her mother worked tirelessly to raise and provide for her six children. In this Bea learned austerity, good stewardship, and endurance, all that would define her later as a wife, a mother, and a grandmother. She married the love of her life, Calvin, on July 12, 1947, and they were blessed with three children. Cal had come home from his service in World War II, and meeting at a blind date, they would walk together side-by-side until his passing. She followed Cal, supporting him in everything; his welcoming outgoing nature and her steadfast, supportive nature harmonized together into a beautiful partnership. They moved South to follow their children, finally settling in Leesville, LA. Cal wanted a farm, Bea wanted to travel, so they ended up with a small two-acre farm, raising rabbits and chickens, and becoming a haven for 4-Hers and many other visitors. Her past-times were numerous, and continuing after the death of Cal, she stayed active. Creativity was not just a hobby for Bea, she mastered it. An unmatched baker, a crocheting artist, and a cautious, yet determined, embracer of technology, she really made sure she did her best. Mirroring her creative heart, she was avidly immersed herself in the Harry Potter series and Twilight series; even displaying an innocent giddiness at her age, when a Harry Potter movie came to theatres, insisting her children taker her. “Grandma Bea”, “Bea”, or “Mom”, as Cal referred to her, lived well on this Earth; an example of what it means to be a lady and a good steward of her blessings. Though she is gone, she will be forever cherished by her family and friends.
Left to honor her memory is her son, Stanley Jay Chisholm and wife, Nancy; daughters, Sharon Jan Peters and, husband, Gerald, and Diane Marie Chisholm; 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends.
Beatrice is preceded in death by her loving husband, Calvin “Cal” Chisholm; her parents; 3 sisters; and 2 brothers.
Beatrice’s life honoring service will be Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., at Lumberton Family Funeral Home, 766 S. Main St. Lumberton, TX, with Bro. Wes Smith officiating. She will be laid to rest on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at 2:30 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery, 153 Alexandria Hwy, Leesville, LA 71446, honored in a manner befitting her decades of membership in the Order of the Eastern Star.
