Barbara Ann Varner passed away on July 5, 2021. She was born on April 22, 1942, in Robstown, Texas to Silas Westley Thomas and Alene Stewart.
Barbara Varner was a special lady who will be remembered for her kindness and helpfulness to all who knew her. Visiting on the phone with her family and friends was one of Barbara’s favorite things to do. She loved to keep up to date on her loved ones, and she loved to keep them up to date on the newest Western movie she had watched, often staying up all night to finish the movie and call early in the morning to inform her family of what the show was about. She loved all western movies, but her very favorite was Walker Texas Ranger. Barbara could be found often enjoying an ice-cold Coca Cola and watching her favorite show. She was a quiet person, but approachable and courteous always. She wanted her family to be happy and she did not want to be the cause of any disagreement. As her family grew, she kept in touch with each of them as best she could. Barbara never forgot a single birthday. Through her hard work and friendly manner, Barbara touched the lives of many around her. Her visits on the phone and overall devotion to her family will be cherished and sorely missed for many years to come.
Left to cherish Barbara’s memory are her daughter, Brenda Ross; sons, Nathan Drumgo, Audwin Jay Drumgo, Lawrence Drumgo, Wesley Drumgo, and Jonathan Drumgo; siblings, Wesley Thomas, Linda Patterson, Steven Thomas and wife Phyllis, and Nelda White-Morgan and husband Donald; many grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Preceding Barbara in death are her parents; husband, Mac Huey Varner and sisters, Sharon Taylor and Pamela Thomas.
To honor Barbara's life, a time of visitation will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Lumberton Family Funeral Home. Immediately following the visitation, a life honoring funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Eddie D. Ross of Yeshua Touch Ministry in Houston, TX presiding.
