Aurora Shearer Obituary

Aurora Shearer entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on June 6, 2024. She was 87 years old.

Aurora Shearer was born on July 4, 1936. She was married to Douglas Shearer (d. 2015) for 46 years. She is survived by three children, three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Aurora grew up on the Texas/Mexico border. She became a licensed beautician in her early 20's, eventually starting and maintaining her Aurora's Beauty Shop for around 25 years.

In 1982, Aurora began reading and studying her Bible and searching for a new church. After a year, she visited a Protestant church that truly taught the Bible and had vibrant praise and worship. In November 1983, she responded to a call to receive Jesus Christ. Her "real" and new life began, and this influenced her whole family to receive Jesus.

Aurora continued reading, learning her Bible, and became a "doer of the Word." She began sharing her testimony and how God had opened her eyes to the Truth. She naturally and unashamed began preaching the Good News and leading people to Christ. Often, she went out for a quick errand only to return hours later to tell the family how many people received Jesus. She was always involved in church ministries, including Bible groups and a jail ministry.

In 1988, the family moved to Louisiana. At her new church, she was involved in the food bank, women's shelter, jail ministries, and home Bible studies. She made many friends! In the late 1990's, she went back to South Texas to care for her aging mother for about two years until she died. While there, she still found opportunities to spread the Gospel of Christ.

In the early 2000's, Aurora and Douglas moved to the area of Beaumont, Texas, where she worked with a street ministry helping less fortunate people. She joined many Bible studies, making even more great friends.

Even up to her last nurse visit, she preached the Gospel message and told people of the love of Christ. Very typical of Aurora, her last words were centered on God's promises, "By His stripes, I am healed and (Isaiah 53:5) and I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13)."

Semper Fidelis (Always Faithful), Aurora was.
