Arthur Joe Edwards Jr.

Arthur Joe Edwards Jr., 66, of Lumberton, TX, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 9, 2021. He was born on December 4, 1954 to Helen Maria Edwards and Arthur Joe Edwards Sr.

Joe suffered a terrible head injury in 1992. He was left blind and totally incapacitated after spending 3 months in the hospital. He was sent home and had to have 24-hour care. Brother Roy Emmons and his wife Sister Brenda Emmons came from Oregon to care for Joe and give support to Helen and Gina who was caring for him at the time.

They prayed and read the Word of God in Joe’s room 24 hours a day for 2 months. On a Wednesday morning, Joe sat up in bed and in his right mind told Brother Emmons he wanted to be baptized in Jesus’ name. With much rejoicing, Brother and Sister Emmons hot Joe dressed and took him to Brother Burrs church in Nederland and after the preaching, Brother Emmons baptized Joe in the name of Jesus and he came up out of the water speaking in tongues. A mighty miracle was witnessed that day by friends and family. Joe never stopped witnessing about the love and mercy God showed to him.

He loved the Lord with all his heart and looked forward to the day he would be with Jesus.

Survivors include his daughter, Tiffany Leann Galbreath; his three sisters, Tanya Aldridge and husband David, Margaret Regina Childs, and Joyce Lopez and husband Paul, as well as lots of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Joe Edwards Sr.

He loved his family and was very much loved and will be missed.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 beginning at 2:00PM at Lumberton Family Funeral Home, 766 S Main St. Lumberton, TX 77657. Interment will follow the funeral service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
