Archie Allen Obituary

Archie Lee Allen, 93, of Vidor passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2021 with his beloved wife of 71 years and his family by his side. Bro. Allen was born on May 14, 1927 in Aberdeen, Mississippi as the youngest of three children to Anna Estelle Carter Allen and Walter Lee Allen. From a young age, music played a central role in Bro. Allen’s life. From playing in the Mississippi Ramblers as a teen, to singing and ministering throughout his career as a minister, Bro. Allen’s love of music was always in the forefront. He even met his wife at a church function where she sang and played. While music was important, anyone who knew Bro. Allen knew his love of the Lord was the first thing on his mind when he woke every morning, and the last thought when he laid down at night. A deeply godly man, Bro. Allen dedicated his life to the ministry and sharing of God’s word and teachings. He pastored many churches over his lifetime and led countless people to the Lord over the years. A testament to his devotion was the testimony of his beloved wife Ruth who remembers 71 years of daily Bible study and prayer every single morning of their marriage. It is surely this daily study that led to his nickname as the “Walking Bible,” as there was rarely, if ever, a verse that Bro. Allen could not quote from memory. In his 93 years of life, Bro. Allen built an extensive collection of priceless memories with his three daughters and their families as well. Now this faithful and godly man is with the Lord, patiently waiting for his beloved family and his faithful brothers and sisters in Christ to join him in his forever home.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Ruth Kynerd Allen; his daughters, Elaine Allen Fauss Padfield and husband Doug, Dayle Allen Shockley and husband Stan, Gayle Allen Cox; his grandchildren, Shelaine Fauss-Everhart and husband Shawn, Leslie Cox Branam and husband Justin, Anna Shockley Contreras and husband Andrew; his great-grandchildren, Ainsley Everhart, Audrey Branam, Jack Branam, Arabella Contreras, Trae Contreras, Julian Contreras; his nephews, Edward Allen and wife Sharon, Jimmy Allen and wife Ruby, Hoyt Allen; and his niece, Debbie Allen Tate and husband Dale; as well as many church family and friends.

Archie was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Lee Allen and Anna Estelle Carter; his brother, Walter Hansel Allen; and his sister, Annie Ray Allen Reed.
