Anna Koch Laird Obituary

Anna Belle (Koch) Laird, age 92, of Lumberton, TX, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025. She was born in Orange, TX, on June 23, 1933, to William and Ella Wyatt Henson.

A woman of extraordinary elegance, grace, and beauty, Ann was molded by the trials and triumphs of life. Her presence uplifted; if someone needed help, Ann was there. She was a steadfast friend, an ever-present helping hand, and a listening ear to anyone who needed comfort or counsel. Her generosity was quiet but powerful, her kindness was deeply felt. Ann lived fully and fervently. Her passion for life was evident in everything she touched: from her faith, which anchored her soul, to her cooking, which nourished both body and heart. She loved to travel and adored country music, especially attending the Grand Ole Opry and Fan Fair. She also found joy in sewing quilts and clothing for friends, family, and her community, including cheerleading uniforms for the local high school. She edified those around her, lifting spirits and strengthening bonds with her wisdom, warmth, and wit. As a faithful wife, a doting mother, and a supportive grandmother, Ann’s love was constant and unconditional.

She adored her son, Ernie, with a pride that was as fierce as it was tender, and shared a deep, enduring bond with her daughter-like-cousin, Stacey, her constant companion and confidante. Their relationship was a testament to the power of family and shared joy. Ann carried the energy of someone much younger, her vitality defying the years. Her life was an example in stewardship, resilience, and grace. She leaves behind a community enriched by her presence, a family strengthened by her love, and a world made better by her being in it. Though she has passed from this life, Ann’s spirit lives on in the lives she touched, the meals she shared, and the love she gave so freely. She was, and will always be, a true lady.

Left to honor her memory are her children, Ernest Koch, Jr. and wife, Kerry, and Susan “Missy” Roberts and husband, Larry; grandchildren, Kristen Wilson, Derek Koch and wife, Chelsea, Jessica Salomon and husband, Martin, Chance Koch, Anna Beth Foyt and husband, Joe, and Bryan Roberts and fiancée, Erin Gonzales; great-grandchildren, Caleb Heintz, Gunner Wilson, Ella Salomon, Preston Foyt, Brady Roberts, and 2 more on the way; Cousin, Stacey Mallette; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, loved ones, and friends.

Preceding Ann in passing are her parents; first husband, Ernest Lee Koch, Sr.; and husband, John Bevel Laird.
