Alston Ellis Bourne Jr.

Alston “Buddy” Ellis Bourne Jr., age 74 passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2025. He was born on January 24, 1951, in Houston, TX, to Alston Ellis Bourne Sr. and Myrtis Roper Bourne. 

Buddy was known for his vibrant personality and playful spirit. He loved to play practical jokes and often found joy in embarrassing the people he loved in the most endearing ways. Although he was a clean-cut businessman by day, Buddy embraced his natural spirit of a hippie content to live in the woods. He was a frequent visitor to Las Vegas, where he enjoyed the excitement and energy of the city.

Buddy was a hardworking individual with a wide circle of friends who cherished his company. He had a unique way of giving gifts that weren't wrapped, a gesture that always brought smiles to those who received them. His love for history led him to pursue a degree in the subject, and he never lost his passion for learning about the past.

Above all, Buddy was a family man. He loved his children and grandchildren deeply, and they lovingly called him Grandpa Buddy. He was always ready to drop everything to support his loved ones, demonstrating his unwavering dedication and love. Buddy's genuine nature and ability to connect with people made him a beloved figure in the lives of many.

Left to honor Buddy’s life is his son, Alston “Tres” Bourne, III and wife, Melanie; daughter, Allysen Palmer Rodrigue and husband, Dr. Marvin “Scooter” Rodrigue; brother, James Michael Bourne and wife, Bridgett Bourne; grandchildren, Savannah Ryann Cooksey, and Hailey Mahana Bourne; as well as a host of friends and loved ones.

Preceding him in death are his parents; grandchildren, Christopher Carl Cooksey and Shannon Lance Ivey Jr. and sister, Sherry Lynn Hollingsworth.
