Alice Marie (Ardis) Wingate

Alice Marie Ardis Wingate, 66, of Vidor, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 14, 2021.
Alice was born in Beaumont to Howard T. Ardis and Helen Wolf Ardis on October 11, 1954. Alice and her family moved to Vidor in 1959 where she graduated from VHS in 1973 and would begin to build her life working and raise her family in Vidor.

Alice worked for VISD as a bus driver for many years ending that career in 1993 and moving to Gilchrist, Texas to enjoy the one place she loved, the beach. After several years Alice decided to make the move back to Vidor and settle into her parent’s home once again. She then found her spot at working at Vidor Walmart for over 12 years. During that time Alice connected with many people she worked with and considered them to be like family. Alice was a kind soul. She was always ready to help with the needs of others. Alice was always up for a beach trip, even if only for the day. She was known for long hours of discussions with family and friends, listening and offering advice. Our sweet Alice will be missed by all who knew her.
 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Helen Ardis, brother Raymond Ardis, sister Katherine Ardis and her loving sister in law Diane Lyons Ardis.
Those here to cherish her memory is her son, Michael Leatherwood and his wife Ann of Vidor; her brother David Ardis of Vidor; her sister in law Nancy Ardis of Vidor; her grandsons: Christopher Glanville, Nicholas Glanville, Chase Leatherwood and Alex Leatherwood; her great grandchildren: Pheonix, Kenadee, Owen, Jaxon, Thad and Aiyana; her best friend Charlene Grass; her nieces and nephews: Dianna Ardis, Shauna Ardis, Dana Richard , Lori Glanville, Bruce Glanville and Jerry Hudson; along with many other relatives near and far and a long list of friends.
 

To honor Alice’s life, there will be a Memorial Service held on July 22, 2021, at 7:00 PM at Turning Point Church in Vidor (3600 N Main St, Vidor, TX 77662).
