Sue Huffman
1936 – 2018
Sue Nell Huffman, age 82, passed from this life on November 1, 2018. She was born in Pineland, TX on January 18, 1936 to Mildred Taylor Lindsey and Oscar David Lindsey.
A selfless, giving Christian, Sue worked hard for her family even though times were tough throughout her life. Growing up in Pineland, she was raised by her grandparents. As a young woman working for them at their café, a recently discharged soldier, Cecil, walked in for a cup of coffee. It was love at first sight, and they would marry on May 15, 1957 and spent many happy years together. Her spirit of caring found a home in her career of nursing. For many years, she worked as the labor and delivery nurse for Dickerson Memorial in Jasper, Texas. When Sue was not at work, she loved to read. She would share a passion of knowledge about world history and geography with her husband, and she became very well-studied. Sue loved her coffee, drinking Folgers, with two sugars and one cream. She enjoyed Gospel music and knew how to play piano by ear. Though she struggled in life, Sue’s considerate heart and smile left a profound mark on those that loved her.
Left to honor her memory are daughters, Elizabeth Whittington and husband, Bobby, of Vidor, TX and Melanie Albanese of Vidor, TX; son, James Lewis Huffman of Vidor, TX; sister, Diana Lindsey Breiner of Kingwood, TX; brother, Billy David Lindsey of Beaumont, TX; 4 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Sue’s life honoring services will be scheduled at a later date. The family would like to thank Vidor Health and Rehab for their staff’s kindness and care of her.
